Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (English: Poster Rips Open An Hero) is an upcoming Bollywood action comedy film starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz in lead roles. The film will be produced by Ramesh Taurani of Tips Music Films and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, who earlier directed films such as Ghayal (1990), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Khakee (2004) and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009). The film is expected to release on 20 September 2013.
Casting:
In early August 2012, it was confirmed by director Rajkumar Santoshi that he has offered the film to actor Shahid Kapoor and that talks have been on for the film for the previous six months. Soon after, when Kapoor was asked, he said that he has not yet signed the film, but is on the verge of doing so. It was earlier reported that actress Diana Penty has been signed as the female lead, although the producers have stated that they have signed on Ileana D'Cruz for the role instead as she would be perfectly suited for the role. Actress Padmini Kolhapure has been signed on to play the role of Kapoor's mom in the film. It was later confirmed that newcomer Deepika Kamainah will play an important role alongside Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz. The rest of the cast is yet to be confirmed.
Filming:
The film was expected to begin filming in November 2012, after Kapoor completed Maneesh Sharma's next for Yash Raj Films but the actor had opted out of the Maneesh Sharma movie because of other commitments. Shahid Kapoor announced via Twitter that the filming began on November 2, 2012. The film was expected to be completed till Feb 2013 but due to date issues it was completed in March 2013.
